Howard & Co., Boston, Mass., series XII, L size, split plate, 17 jewels, stem wind and set, damascened, nickel plate movement with lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, gold jewel settings, gold timing screws and whiplash micrometric regulator in a gold filled, screw back and bezel, open face case and Arabic numeral, single sunk, metal dial, blued steel umbrella hands, serial #700747, c1900.
CONDITION:
CASE: Minor dings and pin pricks; Fine scratches on outer surface of case; Minor scratches on inner surface of case; Bow and pendant with minor brassing; Crystal with minor scratches; Crown worn. DIAL: Minor dirt and discoloration. HANDS: Minor oxide, tip of minute. MOVEMENT PLATES: Minor scratches on plate; Regulator assembly with specks of oxide. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Ticks briefly, needs service. This watch appears to have been updated in the first half of the 20th century, with a new case and dial. The movement fits the case properly, and has never housed a different movement.
